Pumpkin Activities for Preschool

October is a month full of pumpkin fun!
Below are several activities that I did with my little ones that can easily be incorporated into the preschool or home school setting.  To find out more information about any activity, please follow me on Instagram!

Pumpkin Art
We tried out two different methods, brand new to us, to create these adorable pumpkins.
A salad spinner was used to create the "spin" pumpkins in the first picture.  The "pastel" pumpkins were inspired by @prekwolfpack.  We simply painted pumpkins with black paint and colored them in with Crayola pastels, after they dried.  Next, the boys and I used q-tips dipped in olive oil to blend the pastels for a watercolor effect.

Pumpkin 10 Frames and ABC Clip Cards

My pumpkin 10 frames (found on TPT) are a perfect way for early learners to practice counting, number recognition, and 1-1 correspondence.  My 5 year old used them to help identify higher numbers up to 20.

We used the beginning sound set of my pumpkin clip cards to work on identifying beginning sounds and identify the capital letter that produces that sound.  Capital letter to capital letter and capital letter to lower case letter sets are also included!

Pumpkin Patch Sensory Bin
So much fun and amazing for building fine motor muscles!

Pumpkin Playdough and Loose Parts
Another great activity for building creativity and enhancing fine motor skills.
My 3 year old also requested rolling pins and "pinchers" (tweezers) to pick up the pumpkin seeds.  Great additions to this set!
